Bacon wrapped dates
Franklin doesn't care for the sweetness of the dates, so I created another version for him -- this works equally well with roasted bell peppers (you can find them in a jar, or roast fresh bell peppers in a 425 degree oven until the skin begins to char, put them in a covered bowl to steam, peel off the skins and remove the seeds. Cut into 1x2 squares.)

One slice of bacon, when stretched out on the cutting board, should wrap 3 dates or 2 pieces of bell pepper.

Dried dates
4 oz andouille, finely chopped
4 oz semi-soft cheese (goat cheese, cream cheese, etc.)
center-cut bacon slices

Slit open the date and stuff with a little cheese and andouille. Press the filling into the date. Wrap it once in bacon, cut to make a seam. Secure with a toothpick. Brown in a skillet or under the broiler, turning often. When the bacon is cooked, it's done.
