Jane's Apple Pecan Crunch
This is Jane Lange's recipe. She's had many businesses in her lifetime, so she knows how to use shortcuts to get good food on the table. This dip for apples is very good! Mrs. Jane operates Total Live-In Care service for those that need a little extra help. (225) 791-5307.
cream cheese layer:
3 pkgs softened cream cheese
1.5 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
caramel:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
pecans:
1 16 oz bag of shelled pecans
3 tbs butter
5 apples
as needed: cinammon, salt, fruit fresh perserver
Combine all ingredients for cream cheese layer in a bowl, spread into a layer onto the serving plate.
Caramel layer: In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup dark brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, stir, then heat an additional 2 minutes, stir, then heat 1 more minute. Allow the mixture to cool, then beat until smooth. Pour on top of cream cheese layer.
Microwave the pecans for 2 minutes, add the butter and stir. Put back in the microwave for 1 more minute to finish toasting. Add the pecans to the top of the caramel.
To serve, slice apples, toss with lemon juice or Fruit Fresh, arrange on the serving plate with the dip.
