Warm Berry Compote
2 tbs butter
1 qt container fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
1 bag frozen blackberries
1/4 c sugar
1 generous shot of Chambord (or other flavor) liqueur
1 tsp ground ginger (or ginger paste from refrigerated produce section)
zest of 1 medium orange

Thaw frozen blackberries. Heat a skillet to medium high. Melt butter and add thawed blackberries and juice from the bag. When the juice starts to bubble, add the halved strawberries. Stir until heated through, then make a well in center and add sugar and liqueur (carefully - liqueur can ignite around gas flames!!). Stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in ginger. Turn off heat and add orange zest, stirring berries gently to coat with syrup.

Serve over slices of angel food or pound cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
